I was already to post a blog entry, and then I decided to make a quick trip to one of my favorite showrooms (thefinishedroom.com) with the intention of returning a few items I took out on approval for a client. On a side note: she kept the fabulous link chain candle sticks and said “no” to the Barbara Barry drum table and a gilt mirrored tray. If it were me I would have kept the table, it was just yummy in a neutral toned watercolour pattern with a gold band around the base. The price tag was the deal breaker. After spending over 100K,  I think they decided to tighten up the purse strings (ouch). The house was just photographed this week, and I’ll be sharing the pics after I find out if a few magazines are going to feature/or pass. We shall see, either way the pics will be out there in the blogosphere.

So while in the showroom I spotted several sample books of the most divine, sophisticated, elegant and opulent fabrics and wallpapers laying on a table in the entry way. The showroom owner had them sitting front and center, because the rep had just dropped them off. Of course, my greedy little hands were the first ones to peruse the  samples of the most amazing fabrics and wallpapers. If there is something I love more than chocolate, it’s inspired fabrics, hands-down. Now that’s true love. My latest obsession is the brainchild of 2 brothers out of the UK, who started this amazing line of fabrics and wallpapers in 1999. Quite frankly is there anything that comes out of Great Britain that isn’t fabulous? (Except maybe “Kidney Pie”).

I also wanted to thank all those who took the time to read my lengthy post about the recent adoption of our 6 year old. I was so touched by the comments, and hope through it all that I inspired others to become involved in helping children in Foster care. It’s the most gratifying thing you will ever do…

This started it all, after opening this book, it was love at first sight, and of course I found the perfect wallcovering to compliment the teal based pallette.

This is from the Floribunda collection which has the most scrumptous cut velvets and sophisticated textures. The tonal leopard print is just gorgeous…

This colour way is also from the Floribunda collection.  I love the injection of colour and pattern, it’s unique and contemporary. I’m getting tired of neutral based interiors can you tell? Bring back the bold!

From the Arcadia collection. A softer more modern approach to the “shabby chic” look.

From the Astoria Collection, which features high-cut piles in citrus, heather and rouge. Can I say that I am ordering the drapery fabric, yes, I am updating the fabrics in the downstairs rooms, and Mr. B. can’t say a word because he just purchased a 72″ television. So talk about leverage.

This fabric collection features retro shapes of the 70’s and like most trends everything eventually comes back around. I think these patterns are a fun take on a great time in history, the age of Disco and Studio 54.

This is probably my second favorite and is aptly named the Nomad collection. Based on ancient patterns of persian influence, the unexpected colours create the right amount of visual impact. I love the vibrancy of the patterned drapery tampered down with a more subtle stripe on the sofa. Perfection.

Ahoy, there! They even have a coastal collection whose maritime roots are inspired by the British seaside. The breezy printed cottons are pefect for a cozy little cottage, or a sunny back porch.

This elegant, opulent collection is aptly named the Versailles collection. I love the timeless appeal and the unexpected whimsical wallpaper featuring the outline of lamps. I applaud the introduction of a pattern that adds some levity to this darker pallete in shades of peacock and noir.

If you are interested in finding out more about the collection, feel free to contact us. At this time it’s available to the trade only. I want to mention that this was not a paid promotional plug for the company, but I loved the fabric line so much I wanted to share my latest obsession. As always don’t forget to visit my Pinboards on Pinterest for more design inspiration.
