There was absolutely no time to do a blog post last week, it was “Spring Break”, and La Familia went (braved) the “Wonderful World of Disney,” or not so wonderful world. I say this because Disney experienced the busiest day that they’ve had in 5 years. As lady luck would have it our visit to the Magic Kingdom happened on that very day. So while the little Fashionista sat in a stroller cool, calm and classic in her Lilly Pulitzer ensemble, we looked like what we were, frazzled parents who bravely fought the crowds to ride the “Teacup.” By the end of Day 1, I was ready to stay at the hotel and simply lounge away the hours by the pool with a requisite umbrella drink by my side. This would have been the perfect scenario since all it did was rain, (frankly I didn’t care where the umbrella was, in a drink or in my hand as long as I was on a comfy chaise lounge). We survived the three days and on the last day, I was a certified Disney tourist complete with my plastic rain poncho. In fact, I highly recommend the “Disney Diet” which consists of hours of walking, long lines at the food kiosks (=little food), and no seating available anywhere. It was the first vacation ever where I actually lost 5 pounds.
My daughter’s suitcase consisted of 1/3 Lilly Pulitzer, 1/3 Ralph Lauren, and 1/3 Boden. Of course, being a huge fan of Lilly, I was devastated to learn that she had passed on last week. As a lifestyle blogger and trend spotter, I have featured interiors using her home collection, and the Lilly Pulitzer fabric line at Lee Jofa is the pure definition of year round summery classic, colourful, chic. Many years ago I owned a clothing store in New York, and one of the lines we carried in the summer months was Lilly. Needless, to say I have been a devout follower for years, and had the honour of meeting her in West Palm Beach at a cocktail party which seems like a lifetime ago. She was ever so gracious, and just lovely. I don’t believe she ever forgot her humble beginnings as a young girl selling fruit juice from a roadside stand in West Palm Beach in the late 50’s. Inspired by her juice stained clothing she launched a line of brightly coloured shifts covered in playful prints. Soon Icons like Jackie Kennedy were wearing Lilly’s designs, and of course the rest is history because the brand has continued to expand from clothing into home decor. So here is a brief glimpse into the world of Lilly Pulitzer. May she forever rest in peace.
I’m happy to say that I’m a “Lilly girl.”
A custom colour palette used exclusively by Lilly Pulitzer, Inc. and the foundation for all things Lilly, (I do want to mention that my firm does custom colour palettes created from favorite fabrics, nature, or just about anything that inspires you).
The Home Collection, the colours and patterns are just divine. The introduction of the animal print rug gives the room a subtle edgy vibe.

This photo features some items from her home collection, it would be like waking up to a whole lot of happy. The colourful, fun, and playful prints just have that “feeling good vibe”. I love, love, love the screen and the side table.
Just plain “pretty in pink.”
This dining space has such a classic feel. I love the use of two colours and patterns in the same palette to underline the signature Lilly style.
Just so Lilly…
I absolutely adore her tabletop collection, it’s just stunning. A dinner party centered around this colourful, summery table-scape would be nothing short of a success.

My absolutely favorite Lilly Pulitzer store-South Park Mall, Charlotte, N.C. If you are ever in the area, it’s a must see. The space is designed to perfection, and is a visual feast.
I hope you are inspired to live a “Lilly life”!
