It’s not surprising that I love “Haute (hot) Hotels,” as much for the design as I do the location. So when Groupo Habitat reached out to us recently about featuring Casa Fayette, I took one look at the pictures and it became obvious that the hotel was too good not to share. In fact, they also operate one of my favorite boutique hotels in NYC, The Americano, a perfect example of “minimalist chic.”
Casa Fayette is located in Lafayette, a trendy area of Guadalajara in Mexico. Housed in a 1940’s mansion the hotel was redesigned by the Italian design firm Dimore Studios and opened last year amongst tree-lined streets, vintage 20th-century houses & art galleries. The hotel is actually several buildings, a new highrise merging with the mansion via a pool and terrace designed to flow toward the original house. A seamless blending of early 20th-century architecture with modern grandeur.
The interior can only be described as global eclecticism, from the retro-inspired bar to interior elements inspired by the neighborhoods ongoing transformation. A colorful fusion of design, architecture & fashion. Recently, Casa Fayette had the distinction of being included on the 2016 Conde Nast Traveler Hot List, which recognizes the world’s 60 establishments that have opened their doors in the last 12 months. After, seeing the pictures it’s easy to see why…
