I’m craving texture…maybe because it’s fall with winter looming in the distance. Faux fur throws and luxurious sheepskin rugs draped over furniture feature prominently in every fall catalog that I pull from an overflowing mailbox. Which has made me realize I need a little texture in my life. Frankly, I don’t think we have enough. I either need to buy some faux fur throws or at the very least hire the design firm of Cloth & Kind. Something I plan to discuss with Mr. B. over the weekend. Frankly, when we spent an afternoon at the Serenbe Showhouse he knew there would be some changes happening at Casa B.
Which brings me to my next point you can have a design focused entirely on a monochromatic scheme, but if you have texture. Well, then you’ve given it life. And life is what the design duo of Tami Ramsay & Krista Nye Schwartz of Cloth & Kind have given this bedroom at the Serenbe Designer Showhouse. From a hand-screen fabric wallcovering to an eclectic mix of accessories. Although, this was a room in a the showhouse, it could very well have belonged to a well-traveled individual, with singularly evolved tastes. Someone who appreciates unique textile pairings, and ecletic decoration from tribal masks to fringed ottomans. Worldly influence with touchability, white walls given warmth through artwork. mesh drapery and collectibles. Design trends are moving toward ethnic overtones, but the space was more timeless than trendy. Organic, urban & sophisticated. As relevant today as it will be ten years into the future.
And as promised I’ll continue to share more pictures of the 2015 Serenbe Designers Showhouse over the next few weeks so check back often for more design inspiration.

One of my favorite elements, if that is even possible to pick one, was the stunning fringed ottoman.

A well-curated art display above the settee (of which had a more traditional silhouette) provided touches that blended new with “found objects.”
