We have one last vacation looming before the end of the summer, and this one involves the high seas. Yes, we are going on a cruise. In fact, I thought my ship had sailed a long time ago when we had to decline free passage on the Regent Cruise Line. If you are familiar with this high-end luxury line, then you can understand why I decided that my dream trip had gone the way of low tide. The free passage had everything to do with my very best friend marrying a well-known photographer who shot the photos for all Regent’s ad campaigns, and he was given four gratis passes for a ten-day cruise through the Mediterranean. Yes, a dream trip. Sadly, our missing presence on the 6-star ship was the result of a scheduling conflict “a la Mr. B.” It’s taken at least five years for the disappointment to wear off, and this year I found it in my heart to forgive. Why have I never gone on a cruise? Because I sail and have been boating since I was ten years old. It’s different when you have a few people on a boat vs. 1000’s, seems a little crowded to me. Then we were given a cruise credit last year, and I decided it was time. I’ll post some pictures along the way and hopefully I’ll find some design inspiration at some very exotic & tropical ports of call…
Which brings me to wallpaper (the tropical kind), I was recently asked by a wallpaper company if I would be interested in picking out something for our house. Hmm…I am re-doing the downstairs bathroom, tropical themed with a little bit of animal print thrown in. Do you remember the picture from this week’s trend forecast? It’s this very picture that has launched a thousand ships of inspiration in my mind, and it’s the driving force behind my design {link}. I dream of leopard & jungle prints in our powder room and it will be done in secrecy. I can’t even imagine telling Mr. B. that I’m going to redo our main bathroom in tropical leaves and leopard. The project will stall before it even started. So I narrowed my selection to nine of my favorites…the final decision will be made while sipping Rum Punch(es) underneath a coconut tree next week.

What does this leopard print have to do with botanical wallpaper? Well…it’s my pick for the shower curtain in our powder room. I know it’s a bold choice, but it’s a small space that calls for a dramatic entrance. I’ll let you know my decision in the next few weeks so stay tuned.
