When I think of entertaining in our home, it includes using fine china from one of four collections (all gifts or passed down through generations), linens pulled from a carefully curated assemblage purchased on my travels, and cherished pieces of glassware. All combined to create a well-heeled tablescape, the foundation for ensuring the perfect dining experience. But, incorporating glassware? It’s one of my favorite ways to elevate the overall appearance, add elegance and personalize the tabletop. In fact, I often use glass bowls or vases as centerpieces and fill them with plants, colorful fall flowers, small pumpkins or interesting gourds mixed with found objects like acorns. Bringing the outdoors inside has always been a favorite way to honor the seasons. Glass pieces are synonymous with style and elegance making them the perfect accessory for autumn decorating.

However, not all glass is created equal, only some will withstand the test of time. Worthy of being passed down & enjoyed throughout generations. Simon Pearce is undoubtedly one of the leaders, and my personal favorite in handblown, heritage quality glassware. Simon’s illustrious career began over 40 years ago when he opened his first workshop in Kilkenny, Ireland.  In the 80’s he moved his operations to Quechee, Vermont where his glass is still handcrafted by American Artisans, and used in fine homes across the country. It’s his dedication and commitment to the artistry of glassblowing that ensures each piece is an artform from wine goblets to elegant vases.  In fact, several years ago, I used a Simon Pearce bowl in an interior photo shoot and it was the glass bowl that received the most inquiries. The undeniable beauty discernable even from the pages of a magazine.

“I searched until I found Ireland in Vermont.”-Simon Pearce

So, I’m thrilled to announce that I will be partnering with Simon Pearce during the month of October sharing fall entertaining tips using select pieces from their stylish and elegant collections of handblown glassware. Fall is one of the most colorful times of the year, and it’s this season that will provide the inspiration for our holiday table in partnership with Simon Pearce. These are just a few of my curated picks and inspiration that I’ll be using during my afternoon of Festive Fall Entertaining at Erika Reade’s in Atlanta, GA.
