There are many time-honored holiday traditions that have delighted Atlantan’s over the years from the Christmas tree lighting at Macy’s, Atlanta Ballet’s Nutcracker at the “fabulous” Fox Theatre to the Atlanta Home & Lifestyles “Home for the Holidays.” And while Atlanta is known for its rich cultural heritage and Christmas spirit, the city’s diversity in design continues to garner worldwide accolades.
Yes, the metropolis of the south is a melting pot of tastes and talents, from the rising new stars of design to world-renowned icons. And every year they are brought together under one fabulous roof, helping to mark the beginning of the season. For many (including myself) the “harbinger of the holiday’s” is the much anticipated Atlanta Home & Lifestyles Showhouse decked out in signature holiday style. All benefiting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (www.choa.org).
And once again Atlanta Home & Lifestyles brings together the perfect fusion of great Southern design with a sprinkling of good old holiday magic. The house is a symphony of design styles, a crescendo that builds as you through stroll through rooms filled with inspiration and ideas.

This year the Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Holiday House is an English Craftsman with an impressive facade, sweeping terraces and elegant gables featuring the talents of architect, Charles Heydt of Park Heydt & Associates and builder David Childers. The well-appointed Showhouse is located in the heart of tony Buckhead on a street dignified with century old oaks and stately homes. An area that speaks of a grander Atlanta, both old and new, delighting both the traditionalist and contemporist.
There are many holiday traditions in Atlanta, but one that I look forward to every year is attending the Home for the Holidays (open until December 11th). And after I leave full of holiday spirit, I’m off to explore the magic of the season in Atlanta, and oh what a season it is…
