What a week (phew!). It’s always a challenge to get back to work after being out of town, although I can honestly say my feet are very happy. At design shows you have a decision, either you have a pair of really killer shoes, or you endure hours of painful standing & walking (for miles). That’s right, I went for the killer shoes. Now I am faced with articles to write, a casting callback for a interior design show and Show-houses galore to attend. It’s been a great month of design, and I was so thrilled to be a part of it. I’ll share more of my Hollywood moment (casting callback) the first week in May, I’m doing an editorial at the beginning of each month to share my thoughts on the industry in a post titled “The Vic-TORIAL” a play on my name (Vicki) and (Editorial). Clever? Or not? There is so much that goes on in the world of design that’s outside the realm of a few pretty pictures, and I want to share it with my readers. It’s going to be a behind the scenes look at our world, the good, bad and sometimes ugly. So look for a post the first week of every month. I hope it will give everyone an appreciation for what we do-from designers, industry personalities and everyone in between.
One thing that I can’t get out of my head from High Point are the showrooms, which were heartstoppingly spectacular. It’s like a design prom, only the furniture is on display. There were some obvious showstoppers, which had me wondering what happens to all that fabulous stuff after the dance? Because if there is ever a showroom sale at High Point, I will be “glamping” out, first in line. That’s right, I would be pitching my Tory Burch tent outside the doors and leading the stampede. P.S. Tory Burch really doesn’t make tents, but if she did wouldn’t that be fabulous?
I wanted to share some of my favorite showrooms from High Point (Part I & Part II) all for your viewing pleasure, and a whole bunch of inspiration. If there is one thing that get’s my design blood moving its a well curated showroom from colour pairings to vignettes, and there were many..
Codarus- Texture and shades of blue.
Thom Filicia Inc. for Vanguard Furniture-I don’t know that I’ve ever seen neutrals look so good.
Oly Studio-Blues skies ahead. Wall photos by John Kuss Photography.
The Showroom of Thibaut/ Chinoiserie with the introduction of Pagoda Dragon from the Imperial Garden Collection.
Alexa Hampton- Classicism at it’s finest.
Julia Buckingham for Global Views/ Modern design with classic overtones. Celadon paired with red, rich & timeless.
Vanguard-They win the design prize for this art wall vignette.
Julian Chichester-This showroom defined glam, with a high octane mix of lavender and cobalt blue.
CR Laine-pale pinks and celadon, the colour pairing was brilliant.
They’ll be more tommorrow in Part Deux, so check back.
Until then,
BE INSPIRED. BE AMAZED.
